2024 April AED Newsletter

This is a Soledad AED Program update for April 2024.

Our AED program is starting its 6th year in existence, and its 2nd year with Sumter County's Community Responder Program including its financial support.

Sumter County supplied our program with significant support this last year - it relocated 2 of our AED to new sites which included new cabinets, provided replacement AED pads and batteries for all our AED units, replaced our stolen AED unit from Presa Pl, and provided us with a new alerting system.  This has certainly relieved Hacienda South/West residents from several financial burdens.

The annual AED Board meeting was held on April 4th.  The status of our AED Program remains strong with an involved Board and very involved volunteer Responders. The AED Board was re-elected for another term.

ANNUAL AED BOARD REPORTS (if you are interested in reviewing source documents just contact me).

Kay Mead - The Responders were retrained on CPR/AED this year and were also trained on the new Alerting system.  We currently have 23 Responders and plan to train more in the fall.

Maria Guerrera - We are financially sound but continue to contact new families for their support. Our expenses have included retraining costs and the purchase of miscellaneous supplies.   The burden of our expenses is now supported by our tax dollars and Sumter County.  The Board voted to return monies to those families that initially contributed more than $100.  We are very blessed with many generous families but want to be financially fair as well.  Our finances will be again reviewed by an independent agent.

Bill Schupp - The Board reviewed and updated our Bylaws to reflect our current relationship with both the Villages Public Safety Department and the Sumter County Community Responders Program.

Cathy Smith - Reviewed current status of responders and possible volunteers from Hacienda West.

I want to acknowledge our neighborhood volunteer Responders for their continued interest and service to all of us in Hacienda South/West and surrounding areas.  In fact, on 4/4/24 several of the Soledad AED Responders were alerted to a CPR need of a neighbor across Morse Ave (thru Sumter County’s PulsePoint).

THANK YOU for your continued support.

In the future we will announce AED drills and, over time, relocate the remaining cabinets to pubic properties.  We will continue to update you.

Please let us know if you are interested in, or aware of a neighbor that maybe interested in, training as a CPR/AED responder.

Thank you for your support - your interest and participation remain paramount to the success of this voluntary endeavor which uniquely serves all of the residents of Hacienda South/West and others.
