2024 March AED Newsletter

Thank you for your continued support of the Soledad AED Program.

In February, Sumter County held the second Coordinators meeting for PulsePoint (that's the newer AED alerting system we joined a year ago).  The meeting was well attended and the program's growth and many improvements were revealed.  A new and improved Alerting System (AED Yellow) was introduced.  The original alerting system (Red) alerts responders based on the responder's proximity to the victim. Yellow, aims to be more reliable, and alerts responders based on AED boxes proximity to the victim.

On March 12th, the Soledad AED RESPONDERS met and installed AED Yellow on their phones - Yellow targets OUR AED boxes in Hacienda South/West.  Yellow does not cost our Program anything - we thank you for paying your taxes.  We will continue to use and monitor both alerting systems (Red and Yellow).  During this meeting, responders also viewed instructional videos and reviewed new features on our AEDs in order to stay current on the improved technology. I want to thank these dedicated volunteers for their time and continued service !

I am pleased to report that PulsePoint has replaced our 3 sets of expired AED pads (at a savings of $220 each!)   And that we are completing our FIFTH YEAR as a neighborhood AED program !

The Soledad AED Board will meet for our Annual Reporting on Thursday, April 4 at 7pm. (Krawczyk house, 1101 Presa Pl)

ALL are welcome to attend - and also to submit your name for consideration of a Board position.

HELP WANTED !       WE WANT YOU !

The Soledad AED Program will arrange training for anyone who is interested in becoming a CPR /AED Responder. The procedure is pretty easy as free classes are available thru the Villages.  Once trained, you will be placed on our Responder roster and connected to the Alerting systems so that you can be notified of any non-breathing victim who is within 1/2 mile radius of the Soledad AED boxes. Currently we have over 20 neighbor volunteers but additional responders are are always welcome.  Please contact me or Kay Mead.

The Villages Public Safety Dept report for 2024 is below.

Again thank you for your continued support !
