Happy New Year to you and your entire Family !
The Villages Public Safety Department (VPSD) has some updated information regarding AED Programs in the Villages -
- There are 281 Neighbor Saving Neighbor groups with 864 AEDs,
- There are more than 6000 trained Responders in the Villages,
- About 1/3 of all the cardiac arrests in the Villages are answered by Responders volunteers.
Does it matter ?
Each year there are more than 356,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests in the US. The national save rate is about 10% while the VPSD reported cardiac arrest save rate was 18% last year !
Do YOU want to be part of the Soledad AED Program ?

THANK YOU for your continued support as Responder volunteers as well as financial contributors. We are currently seeking only $25 from new families (Contact Maria G).
By becoming County PulsePoint volunteers, we have minimized direct neighborhood costs.
For example, AED pads have to be replaced every 2 years, and next month we will need to replace 3 sets.
Our original costs were $40/set = $120 (for 3 sets). The current replacement price is about $220 for each set. (I’ll do the math --> $660 for 3 sets of pads !)
These cost have now been shifted from us (our neighbors' wallets) to Sumter County (and our tax dollars).
These changes will make the Soledad AED Program viable and sustainable.
Stay Healthy and Happy New Year !
