Book Club usually meets at 4:30 pm on the 3rd Thursday of the month at
Paneras (Spanish Springs) in the back.
Four of us met to discuss opinions for our April book choice Tsarina by Ellen Alpsten. As I said in a previous email I did not read it, but those in attendance agreed they did not care for it. They expressed it was too graphically violent to be able to keep their attention. I would be curious about other opinions. Was there something about the story you think is misunderstood?
After discussions about other very interesting discussions we voted among us our choice for May's choice.
May's choice is THE CORRESPONDENT by Sybil Van Antwerp
A 73 year old retired lawyer who manages her life and profound secrets through letters. When threatening letters from her past arrive, she must confront a painful history and find forgiveness. The story delves into grief, aging, and redemption. Dede Smith, who founded this book club, recommends it highly.
Also I'd like to note that Karen Thurreson has recommended Carrying Albert Home, by Homer Hickman, if you would like something lighter and fun to read. It is based on a true story. A feel good story.
We plan to meet again at Paneras SS Thursday, May 21st. 4:30 PM.
Till we meet again,
